Remembering Russia in the Bygone Days of the Cold War March 17, 2006

What nation in their right minds would turn down the creation of a UN resolution for a new Human Rights Council?
The only type of country that would be against a world watchdog would be one that possibly violates those rights and doesn’t want to be exposed to the world. One with a continuing pattern of human rights violations both internally and internationally, where military and political officials are the ones in power.
Possibly a country with such a record of torture, secret detentions, “extraordinary renditions”, rejection of the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Cournt (ICC), denial of due process and generations of capital punishment, even for minors and the mentally disabled - all as a matter of official policy.
One whose leader denies their own historical constitution and presides as emperior, king or dictator. One who adopts the attitude of preemptive strikes all for their own personal sake against nations that they personally do not agree with — even if that nation has democratically elected their representation.
This all sounds like Russia in the Cold War era. Possibly during the beginning of the last century when they went from an Autocracy to Communisim with Lenin in 1918. Their leaders changed their country’s policies in order to maintain and stay in power.
Are we beginning to become that for which we fought against for so many decades? Yes, it’s the United States under the rule of the Neo-Conservatives in all branches of the government that is leading us down this path.
Where will it all end up - it all depends on you. Only you can change the direction, now while you are still able, and take back this once great nation from the Neo-Conservatives in this administration this coming November and end the Republican Neo-Conservatives reign of destruction and irresponsibility on this world.

Dear Mr. President,
I know:
Just because you dodged the Viet Nam draft by going into the National Guard and then went AWOL, doesn’t necessarily mean you are unpatriotic.
Just because everything you worked on failed or required a bail out doesn’t necessarily mean you are not a good decision maker.
Just because you stopped an investigation into Osama Bin Laden just before he attacked on 911 doesn’t necessarily mean you are not capable of making good decision in the war on terror.
Just because you froze for seven minutes doesn’t necessarily mean you are confused and indecisive.
Just because you pulled most of our troops out of Afghanistan before getting OBL, doesn’t necessarily mean you lack the focus and commitment to get the job done as Commander in Chief.
Just because you were wrong about Iraq’s Uranium enrichment program, long range missiles, remotely powered aircraft, mobile biological laboratories, chemical and biological weapons, ties to the 911 attack or anything that could be considered a clear and immediate danger to our country, doesn’t necessarily mean you have invaded a country in a manner that is illegal under international law.
Just because you withdrew from the control of international human rights treaties, the Geneva convention, and war crimes courts and told the soldiers to get information from prisoners “By any means necessary,” doesn’t necessarily mean you were setting up a culture that was conducive to war crimes and torture.
Just because you “Shocked and Awed” a defenseless country, destroying their roads electrical grid, water supply communications, killed their women in children as they sleep at home in their beds, or men as they prayed in Mosques, doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t understand how to win the Battle for the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people.
Just because you took what you said was a projected $6.4 Trillion surplus and turned it into more than a projected $2 Trillion deficit doesn’t necessarily mean you are not a fiscal conservative.
Just because you pulled out of the Kyoto accord and reversed almost all the environmental protections of our air water and wilderness, doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t understand the importance of a clean and healthy environment to the quality of life.
Just because your drug bill benefits the drug companies and HMOs at the expense of the sick and elderly, doesn’t necessarily mean you are not compassionate.
Just because you have polarized the country more than any leader is history doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t a uniter.
Just because you have alienated our traditional allies and energized out enemies, doesn’t necessarily mean you lack diplomatic skills.
Just because the jobs you have promised have not materialized while more and more have been outsourced, does not necessarily mean you do not care about the circumstances of the working man.
Just because you have replaced the outgoing supreme court justices with right wing conservative individuals doesn’t mean our basic rights will be forsaken.
Just because you stonewalled the 911 investigation for 18 months and the CIA leak for longer, doesn’t necessarily mean you have anything to hide.
Just because you have already spent more on smearing your opponent than any candidate in history, doesn’t necessarily mean you are afraid to run on your record.
No, Mr. President, None of those necessarily mean anything, but I have decided not to believe you when you say it is best to stay the course in Iraq.
Why?
Just because.

Seems like someone needs to tell Bush, he’s got it wrong! According to the latest news from the Independent, even his right-wing neocon backers now think the war in Iraq is a mistake!
Geez, and you think all those wiretaps on Liberals would have clued him in!
Thanks for the War Bush March 9, 2006

Well it’s confirmed, Bush lives in LaLa land! He really does have his own reality and is so out-of-touch with the American people. Those few, actually only 32% and declining that still support him, are those who support Party over principle and don’t care about American Democracy. It’s party over everything else for those types of hopeless morons.
Not only did Bush get us into an unprovoked war over certain lies (how do true Christians get around this one) in Iraq - but he has now caused such chaos that it will most certainly will erupt into a Civil War! Much like when Afghanistan was at war and Rumsfield and Reagan supported Osama Bin Laden (whose family is friends with the Bush family) and gave him training and arms to fight the Soviets.
Truly sad times that can only be salvaged by the removal of Bush and his cronies and any Republicans who still support him during the November elections.
