John McCain: Now I’m Not An Expert on Wall Street
Yet not knowing much about the economy nor Wall Street and thinking highly of Paulson – “The Mavarick” thought he would ’suspend’ the campaign and run back to Washington to solve the crisis and go against Paulson! Do I Hear “Political Ploy” and “Duck the Debate”?
Hear John McCain in his own words less then a year ago at Town Hall in Concord, NH on December 17, 2007:
“Now, I am not an expert on Wall Street. I am not an expert on some of this stuff. I have studied carefully this latest proposal by the Secretary of the Treasury, and all I can tell you is, one, I am glad he is there. Everybody thinks that Hank Paulson, the Secretary of Treasury is respected in world markets.”

How may feel like this? I know from over 30 years of personal working experience that this is the way it is in the Corporate world! It doesn’t matter what size of company, I’ve worked for small companies with under 15 people to large corporations with thousands of people worldwide. It’s all the same. You can only look out for yourself as noone else will.
You’re not safe in a small company nor a large one anymore. Where I’m consulting now is a large worldwide corporation that has decided to move it’s US headquarters to the West Coast from the East Coast. It had been established well over 40 years ago and now is uprooting it’s people. How many are actually going to move to a much more expensive place to live, especially in this economy. I can tell you, it won’t be the ’small people’. The ones that are going to make out are the ‘CEOs’.
It’s unfortunate but the ways of our grandfathers of working for one corporation and getting a pension from them are long gone.
The rules of the game changed during the Reagan Era and in the last 28 years of Republican Administrations, only 8 of those years were Democrate Administration. Those 8 years were the most profitable for the middle class – remember those years.
Now a new Republican is calling for “Change”. Even the slogan was ripped off the Democrat Nominee, Obama, who called for Change way before Republicans. The Republicans know that the American public want a change from the disastrous Bush Administration policies – but you and I both know that they have had their chance since 1980. I go back to the old saying, “Are you better off now then you were 8 years ago?” Even better, “Is the WORLD better off then it was eight years ago?”
There’s only one chance for change. If you know anything about History, look at the past empires and see how we have declined as a nation. You can’t blame Clinton for this one Republicans.

John McCain Debates Himself on Supporting Bush
As Obama states – “John McCain has voted with George Bush 90% of the time” – why is that? Well, John McCain even said so! Here he is lieing to the American public in plain view! Can you support another liar in the White House?

Sarah Palin’s Dominion Over Animals September 16, 2008

Sarah Palin Champions Barbaric Aerial Hunting of Wolves
“A good man takes care of his animals, but wicked men are cruel to theirs.” Proverbs 12:10
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Protect the rights of all who are helpless.” Proverbs 31:8
“He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a
lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as
if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed
an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul
delighteth in their abominations.” Isaiah 66:3-4
Dominion over Animals According to the Bible
Genesis 1:26
To environmentalists, letting man have dominion over the animals and being told to subdue the earth means that God gives man free rein to do anything he wants to the planet—bend it to his uses and abuses, rape it of all its beauty and diversity—for his own benefit. “Does not the land have any rights?” they cry. “What about the plants and animals, birds and fish? What gives us the right to mine and burn and kill without care for nature?”
Certainly, God did not give man the authority to degrade and destroy His earth. Environmentalists are correct in saying that mankind should consider and address environmental concerns. They are quite wrong, however, to blame God for the earth’s ecological problems; He is not responsible for man’s destruction of the natural world.
To think that God gave man carte blanche to plunder and destroy the earth is simply ludicrous. He is its Creator! Why would He immediately command Adam to ruin it? Would any woodworker, upon just finishing a beautifully stained piece of furniture, tell his son to break it up for firewood? No! Just as God desires for His creation, the woodworker would put his handiwork to use and also care for it by keeping it waxed and dusted to prolong its life.
This is exactly what God told Adam. Genesis 2 contains a parallel account of creation, adding detail to certain parts of the narrative of the first chapter. Notice God’s expanded instruction: “Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend [dress, KJV] and keep it” (verse 15). This greatly modifies the force of “have dominion” and “subdue it” from Genesis 1:26, 28!
Tend (Hebrew ‘abad) means “to work or serve,” and thus referring to the ground or a garden, it can be defined as “to till or cultivate.” It possesses the nuance seen in the KJV’s choice in its translation: “dress,” implying adornment, embellishment, and improvement.
Keep (Hebrew shamar) means “to exercise great care over.” In the context of Genesis 2:15, it expresses God’s wish that mankind, in the person of Adam, “take care of,” “guard,” or “watch over” the garden. A caretaker maintains and protects his charge so that he can return it to its owner in as good or better condition than when he received it.
To Noah, God gives a similar command after the Flood:
So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. (Genesis 9:1-2)
Once again God gives man dominion over all other life on the earth, and with this renewed authority comes the implicit responsibility to tend and keep what was explicitly given to Adam. In this post-Flood world, God gives mankind a second chance to use and preserve the resources He had so abundantly provided. To that end Noah, after 120 years as a preacher and shipwright, took up farming and planted a vineyard (verse 20). We can assume, from what we know of human nature, that this attitude of stewardship did not pass to very many of his descendants.

Obama On McCain’s Phony Outrage: Enough Is Enough!
I hope Americans haven’t been dumbed down enough from the last 8 years. Enough of the lies and distractions from the right. Let’s talk real issues about real Americans instead of fear and smear and smoke screen distractions.
I know for a fact, Republicans are hard-cored, hard-wired and can only think one way and will go for the lies and bait. They always do. When asked prior about a woman on the ticket, one said that “I would never want a woman in the office as they are all bit**es”. But of course, that is when Hillary was in the primary. Now when it’s on their ticket – it’s better then buttered bread.
Also listening to talk-show pundits is not news – no matter what you try to make of it. Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage are just bloviators and not and never have been news anchors. They do not represent the news media.
So to diverge from the real issues what the more educated (apparently) citizens of this country really want to hear – Republicans attack with lies and they know and hope that they have dumbed the majority of people in the country down to only listening to sound-bites. If Limbaugh is news then ads are sound political policy.
Enough is enough – try to get some of your cerebral cortex back and think for yourself. To many have died for you to do anything less.
Sarah Palin’s Extremist Views September 4, 2008

Ann Coulter watch out, Sarah Palin’s tongue matches with same barbs. She has been condescending and dismissive of the real work Barack Obama did helping real people on the South Side of Chicago. She has upheld the long Republican tradition of lying about Democratic tax cuts—even though Obama’s plan would give Americans a bigger break than McCain’s.
But her speech at the GOP Convention—written by one of President Bush’s speechwriters—didn’t tell us the truth about Sarah Palin’s extremist positions. And the more that people know her far-right views, the less they support her.
Palin’s speech and the reaction to it also made clear why McCain picked her. It wasn’t a decision about who’s most qualified to serve a heart-beat away from the presidency—it was a political decision about pleasing the far-right base of the Republican party.
Here are a bunch of points you might want to know about Sarah Palin:
- Palin recently said that the war in Iraq is “God’s task.” She’s even admitted she hasn’t thought about the war much—just last year she was quoted saying, “I’ve been so focused on state government, I haven’t really focused much on the war in Iraq.“
- Palin has actively sought the support of the fringe Alaska Independence Party. Six months ago, Palin told members of the group—who advocate for a vote on secession from the union—to “keep up the good work” and “wished the party luck on what she called its ‘inspiring convention.’”
- Palin wants to teach creationism in public schools. She hasn’t made clear whether she thinks evolution is a fact.
- Palin doesn’t believe that humans contribute to global warming. Speaking about climate change, she said, “I’m not one though who would attribute it to being manmade.”
- Palin has close ties to Big Oil. Her inauguration was even sponsored by BP.
- Palin is extremely anti-choice. She doesn’t even support abortion in the case of rape or incest.
- Palin opposes comprehensive sex-ed in public schools. She’s said she will only support abstinence-only approaches.
- As mayor, Palin tried to ban books from the library. Palin asked the library how she might go about banning books because some had inappropriate language in them—shocking the librarian, Mary Ellen Baker. According to Time, “news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving “full support” to the mayor.”
- She DID support the Bridge to Nowhere (before she opposed it). Palin claimed that she said “thanks, but no thanks” to the infamous Bridge to Nowhere. But in 2006, Palin supported the project repeatedly, saying that Alaska should take advantage of earmarks “while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist.”
The plain fact of the matter is that Sarah Palin did a bang-up job delivering a Karl Rove-style political attack speech last night. That makes her a skilled politician but it doesn’t make her views any more palatable for voters. Americans don’t really want another far-right, anti-science ideologue in the White House.

Was John McCain Tortured? September 4, 2008

In all the discussion of John McCain’s recently recovered memory of a religious epiphany in Vietnam, one thing has been missing. The torture that was deployed against McCain emerges in all the various accounts. It involved sleep deprivation, the withholding of medical treatment, stress positions, long-time standing, and beating. Sound familiar?
According to the Bush administration’s definition of torture, McCain was therefore not tortured.
Therefore, Cheney denies that McCain was tortured; as does Bush. So do John Yoo and David Addington and George Tenet. In the one indisputably authentic version of the story of a Vietnamese guard showing compassion, McCain talks of the agony of long-time standing. A quarter century later, Don Rumsfeld was putting his signature to memos lengthening the agony of “long-time standing” that victims of Bush’s torture regime would have to endure. These torture techniques are, according to the president of the United States, merely “enhanced interrogation.”
No war crimes were committed against McCain. And the techniques used are, according to the president, tools to extract accurate information. And so the false confessions that McCain was forced to make were, according to the logic of the Bush administration, as accurate as the “intelligence” we have procured from “interrogating” terror suspects. Feel safer?

Some things every American should know about Sen. Barack Obama
Did you know that Barack Obama is a devout Christian? He has been a member of the same United Church of Christ congregation for 20 years, and was married there to his wife Michelle in 1992.
Did you know that Barack Obama often leads the US Senate in the Pledge of Allegiance?
Did you know that Barack Obama is a strong friend of Israel and has spoken out strongly against anti-Semitism?
Did you know his grandparents from Kansas were part of the “Greatest Generation?. His grandfather served with Patton’s Army during World War II, and his grandmother, a real “Rosy the Riveter”, worked in a bomber assembly plant back home.
Did you know that Barack Obama was opposed to the war in Iraq from day one, before we invaded, even while he was running for the Senate, and knowing his opposition might be politically unpopular?
“I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world and strengthen the recruitment arm of al Qaeda. I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.” –Barack Obama, 2002
Did you know Obama favors transparency over secrecy in our government? Did you know that Obama worked with Republican Senator Tom Coburn to pass one of the strongest government transparency bills since the freedom of information act? He’s calling it Google for Government and you can see the results at www.usaspending.gov. Sen. Obama has also released his own tax returns for public review.
Did you know that after graduating with honors from Harvard Law School, Barack practiced civil rights law and also taught Constitutional Law for 10 years at the University of Chicago, one of the nation’s best law schools, where he was consistently rated by his students as one of their best instructors? Did you also know that he was the first African-American elected president of the prestigious Harvard Law Review?
Did you know that Barack Obama is an outspoken advocate for women’s rights and has been a principled defender of the civil rights of women?
Did you know that despite the grueling schedule of running for President, Senator Obama remains a devoted family man, making time to do things like pick out a Christmas tree with his wife and two young daughters, or hurrying home to spend Valentine’s Day with them? Did you know he hasn’t missed a single parent-teacher conference while running for President?
Did you know that Barack Obama has a stellar environmental record, including having the highest rating from the League of Conservation Voters (96%) of any Presidential candidate, Democrat or Republican?
Did you know that Barack Obama has been an elected legislator longer than Senator Clinton?
Did you know that Barack is a member of all of these Senate Committees: Foreign Relations; Veteran’s Affairs; Health, Education, Labor & Pensions; Homeland Security and Government Affairs?
Did you know that Senator Obama has sponsored or co-sponsored 15 bills that have become law, and has introduced amendments to 50 bills, of which 16 were adopted since he joined the Senate in 2005?
Did you know that Senator Obama sponsored legislation working together with Indiana Republican Senator Richard Lugar, to keep Americans safe by keeping dangerous weapons out of terrorist hands? The two senators also visited the former Soviet Union to inspect the decommissioning of nuclear weapons. Sen. Lugar said of Sen. Obama, “He does have a sense of idealism and principled leadership, a vision of the future.”
Did you know that Barack Obama is the only candidate running for president who voted against using cluster bombs in Iraq and the only candidate who supports banning the use of landmines?
Did you know that, as an Illinois state senator, Barack Obama succeeded in passing legislation requiring the videotaping of police interrogations, gaining the respect and support not only of fellow legislators but that of the police, who had initially opposed the legislation?
Did you know that Theodore Roosevelt, Grover Cleveland, Ulysses S. Grant, John F. Kennedy, and Bill Clinton were all younger when they took office than Barack Obama will be?
Did you know the reason Senator Obama’s plane had the American Flag removed? The Obama campaign bought the plane from American Airlines. The flags that were removed and painted over were part of the American Airlines TRADEMARKED LOGO! If he had not removed the logo, he would have left himself open for lawsuits for trademark infringement? The one flag that was on the plane not part of the logo was left on. So there is still a U.S. flag on his plane.
During election season many emails are circulated about the candidates. Some are true, some aren’t. It’s often difficult to determine the truth. We encourage you to visit the following non-partisan sites that do a good job of fact checking the candidates.
